So you have selected a fantastic product from Clickbank or wherever to sell and you have already began to wonder how long you should give this product before you flush it down the tubes because it is not selling as good as you would like. There is really no clear cut answer to this question. This is because each and every affiliate marketer has their own tolerance for marketing a particular item. If you are quite stubborn then this article might not be for you however if you are not read on for some helpful tips.

Te very first thing that you need to do is go over the product itself. Of course it pretty common knowledge that some items are going to sell much better then other items. For example if you are selling a seasonal item like gardening equipment you are going to only have a few good months out of the year to sell your items before you hit a slump in sales. You need to be able to seek out items that will be able to be sold year round.

So what happens when you do select an items that sells year round how do you decide when it is time to pull the plug on it if it is not making the sales that it should be for you.

You certainly do not want to go by time. It really doesn’t matter if you have been selling for a day, week or a year what matter is how many people have seen your product offer and the number of sales that you have made. Let’s say that you have made three sales after you have been selling for a period of three months and have only gotten 300 visitors in that period of time. The problem here is not your conversion but your traffic. You are not getting enough information to determine if you should pull the plug on an item you are selling.

Now if you are getting a ton of visitors in a very short period of time and only made one sale after about a week or so it is time to toss that product and move along to someone else. Now really if I had something like 1000 visits in one day and only had one sale I would pack it in, in one day. You need to know how good the traffic is that you are getting before you make an informed choice about getting rid of a product that you are marketing.

Here is a basic rule of thumb to follow if you are not getting a minimum of 1% after 1,000 clicks you should get rid of the product. This should be the perfect amount of time to determine whether you should keep selling a product or not.
